This feature gives my analysis and opinion of the merits of contemporary medical research in terms that I hope are useful for you. The purpose is to translate the medical news that makes headlines into something more easily understood and useful.
Medical news publicized in the media often leaves out important information that we need to assess the legitimacy and importance of drug ‘breakthroughs’ and ‘new information’ from medical research. A staggering number of so-called breakthroughs are based on faulty studies financed by pharmaceutical companies that have a re-worked drug they intend to market for big bucks as soon as they have created a need for it. Too often those headlines are manufactured for the purpose of making you believe you have a problem that requires a new drug – and they just happen to have it ready for you.
